Featured Project Number 4: 1 Bellevue Crescent, Ayr.
Client: Mr. Robert Stevenson.
Budget: To Clients Brief.
Design Brief: The dwelling was purchased on the open market in November of 2005 and was in need of repair and upgrading. 1 Bellevue Crescent is not a listed building however it does lie within the Ayr Town Centre Conservation Area.
The brief was to transform the existing dwelling to provide a modern living environment complete with new Family Room and Kitchen/Dining Rooms. Additionally new sanitary facilities throughout including a new family Bathroom upstairs and Master Bedroom En-suite downstairs were required to maximise the potential market coverage once the works were complete and the building was offered for sale.
The building (as was) had two enclosed and attached outbuildings which were unsuited to alteration. The proposed scheme therefore indicated these areas being demolished while at the same time the existing slate roof over was retained. As the new Kitchen/Dining Room had to be widened to maximise the new space a traditionally clad lead flat roof extension was designed to accommodate the increased floor area. Floor to ceiling glazing maximise the available daylight and create a stunning contrast between the traditional Victorian main building and the new light and contemporary extension.
Works were completed in October 2006 and the property was later sold on the open market in December of 2006.
This property was featured in The Scotsman Magazine on the 4 th November 2006.
